“We learned about gratitude and humility – that so many people had a hand in our success, from the teachers who inspired us to the janitors who kept our school clean… and we were taught to value everyone’s contribution and treat everyone with respect.”
Hidden Valley Community:
Yes, it is November. October literally flew by. Well, it’s no wonder considering the excitement throughout the month. For example, did everyone feel the buzz on campus during Student Council Campaign Week? It was inspiring to see the effort and comradery put forth by candidates and voters. Congratulations to our 2015-2016 Student Council!
How about our Apex Fun Run in September?! I promised you final numbers when they were available … you all contributed to just over $32,000 profit!!! Fifth grade earned $4,100 toward their 5th grade camp fees!!! Having the “Athletes” on campus kept the kids excited and engaged in their daily leadership lessons (daily prizes helped too. LOL!) Nicole Peters, thank you for your time, perseverance, and willingness to give this a go. To all the volunteers that took time out to help with this fundraiser, your assistance is much appreciated. Sponsors, we are forever grateful. Parents and families, this wouldn’t have happened without you. Thank you!
Heather Santos managed and organized this year’s Carn-o-ween. SO MUCH FUN!!! Anticipation surrounded the addition of Trunk-or-Treat, new carnival games, a fun twist on the pie eating contest where the winner received entry to our annual auction, and, just the event at whole! Heather, your fresh ideas, determination, and positivity was such a treat. Thank you for taking this on! And thank you Hidden Valley Community for volunteering, attending, and supporting this event.
Every year, we recognize Red Ribbon Week on campus. From wearing crazy hair to favorite sports teams and Hidden Valley Spirit Wear, we showed our school spirit by being SAFE, RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and KIND. You know, the Hidden Valley Way! Thank you, Amanda Betti and Melyssa Greenberg! Your highlighting the importance of this week is much appreciated.
What do we have to look forward to in November? We kick off November with an Outdoor Family Movie Night and the start of our See’s Candy Fundraiser; our 5th graders are going to camp, Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving Recess. We have a lot to be grateful for.
