No matter what people tell you,
words and ideas can change the world.
Dear Hidden Valley Families,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!
Along with the addition of new Hidden Valley families, we also have new staff members. Let’s be patient and kind while we all learn the Hidden Valley way. We also have slightly changed some of our school wide fundraising efforts managed by our Parent Faculty Club.
Our Parent Faculty Club (PFC) is similar to a PTA. We are a parent-run non-profit organization, whose goal is to support our students and our school. Our PFC directly supports your child and it is run 100% by parent-volunteers. Each parent/guardian of a student at Hidden Valley Elementary is considered a member of our PFC, which means you have a say in how we raise money and how that money is spent. We welcome and encourage all parents to attend our PFC meetings which are held the first Tuesday of each month, in our school library. The PFC meetings are a great forum for learning more about our wonderful Hidden Valley Community, about upcoming events and fundraisers, and getting to know other parents.
Our 2016-2017 board is comprised of veterans, and parents who are becoming newly involved; we love seeing new faces and getting new ideas for fundraising and events. District funds continue to be tight, so it is very important for the PFC to fundraise year-round so we can continue to support our teachers, so they can continue to give our children the best education possible. A few fundraisers planned for this year are: a Fun Run with APEX that takes the place of last year’s Jog-A-Thon which kicks off this month, See’s Candy sales in November, our 3rd annual Spell-A-Thon, and our Annual Dinner Auction. Some of our other non-traditional fundraisers are our Dining for Dollars and collecting Box Tops. Please keep an eye out for flyers about these non-traditional fundraisers, and don’t forget to read our monthly newsletter online to keep up-to-date on various programs and events.
The PFC also sponsors many school events, the first of these will be held this month, our annual Back-to-School BBQ. It’s a fun family evening at our school, and a great way to get to know our school community. Be on the lookout for opportunities to purchase meal tickets this week!
The PFC managed and coordinated All-In-One Day. This is the day you received teacher assignments and had the opportunity to purchase Spiritwear, BBQ tickets, Auction tickets and a directory. I would like to send a BIG Thank You to Shashanna Kratz, and all the volunteers who made All-In-One Day an organized and successful event!
For more information about the PFC, come to one of our monthly PFC meetings, check us out online at http://www.hvpfc.com/ or find us on Facebook at Parent Faculty Club at Hidden Valley Elementary. Please support Hidden Valley any way you can: make a donation, volunteer, or attend events and meetings — your involvement is key in the successful future of our children and in making Hidden Valley the best it can be!
