Big Thanks

A huge thank you to the parent volunteers who helped during our Apex Fun Run last week, as well as at the Campus Clean Up this past Saturday. Both events were a huge success!  And thank you to PFC members Rhea Karahalios and Nikki Smario for heading these two events.

These events wouldn’t happen without parents to help organize and run them.  If you are interested in seeing what events are coming up soon at Hidden Valley, please come to the next PFC Meeting Tues. Oct. 3 at 7pm  in the Library. Come and get involved!!!

CHECK IT OUT! Art in the Office

A special thank you to Yazmin Llama-Morales for the donation of two art portraits (seen in the pictures below) that she was able to get from the artist, Lalo Alcaraz whom is a UC Berkeley graduate and cartoonist for major newspapers. The art will be displayed in the office.  Next time you are in, please take a look.  HVE appreciates the generosity.

Lost and Found

Girl Scout Troops of Hidden Valley will take over management of Lost and Found this year.  We’d like to announce a few changes.

*Lost and Found has moved to the area in front of A-Pod, visible from the drop off/pick up line.

*On the last Wednesday of the month, Lost and Found will be displayed for easy viewing on the patio tables.

*On the last Friday of the month, unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.

*It is our goal to return as many lost items to their owners as we can. Please put your first and last name on all jackets, backpacks, lunchboxes and water bottles. If it has a name, it is more likely to be returned!

Health Education Information

As you know, we are legally required to provide advanced written notification to parents of children who will receive instruction related to human reproductive organs and sexually transmitted diseases. We must also provide the parents with an opportunity to preview the materials being used for family life education. For the first time in over a decade, Mt. Diablo Unified has identified updated materials to address the Health Standards and State law.

Sex Education Courses or Family Life Education and Sexually Transmitted Diseases including HIV/AIDS education

Instruction in these subjects is included in the curriculum in grade 5, and in grade 7 Science classes and high school Biology and Health Education classes, as well as certain middle and high school P.E classes.  Materials being used are available for inspection and preview at the District Instructional Media Center, C-2, Willow Creek Center, 1026 Mohr Lane, Concord, Monday through Friday, October 2, 2017 through October 6, 2017, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Monday through Friday, January 22, 2018 through January 26, 2018, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (School Support, 682-8000, ext. 4044) (E.C. 51937, 51938, 51939)

(School Support, 682-8000, ext. 4044) (E.C. 51937, 51938, 51939)

Mt. Diablo Unified School District uses an electronic flyer distribution program called Peachjar.  Peachjar replaces paper flyers.  Through Peachjar, each school can send e-flyers to its families, and outside organizations can send approved e-flyers to families in the district.  These e-flyers are also posted on each school’s website for at least one month.  Look for the Peachjar link on your school’s website.

If you provided your email address to your school on your student’s contact information form this year, a Peachjar account has been established for you, and recently you should have received an email from Peachjar with your login information.  This is provided so that you can manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You do not need to log in to receive or view e-flyers.  If you did not provide your email address and would like to receive Peachjar e-flyers via email or text, please visit the Peachjar website to register to receive login information.
