Hopefully you’ve seen us selling coffee on Monday mornings, but if you haven’t yet, you’re missing out! Bring $1 (or 2) & find us (in front of the A-Pod & on the primary playground blacktop) for a cup of piping hot coffee & a delicious sweet treat to start your day off right!
If you are moving or have moved and are applying for an intradistrict transfer, you must have the paperwork turned in to the Mount Diablo Unified School District’s Student Services department (Carlotta Dr. Concord) by Tuesday, January 17, 2017. This is a firm cutoff date. If you have a 5thgrader you would like to enroll in Sequoia or Pleasant Hill Elementary, this is especially important! These forms are available in the office, online, or at the Student Services department.
Kindergarten registration paperwork will be available in the Hidden Valley office beginning Monday, January 30th. Our office is open from 7:15 am until 3:45 pmMonday-Friday.
Please look at the Hidden Valley website under “registration” for more information. There is a Sign Up Genius to sign up for appointments to return the paperwork onTuesday, February 7th (kindergarten registration day in our district). You may start the online registration process now but will still have papers to pick up to complete the registration. We are encouraging all families to register online. This part covers information such as name, address, parents and emergency information.
Items parents need to bring on February 7th are: birth certificate, immunizations (please read the district website to see all immunizations that are required for kindergarten) and 3 proofs of residency ( 1-photo ID; 2 choose one: lease or rental agreement or property tax bill, payroll; 3 – choose one: vehicle registration, tax returns, communication from a government agency).
A physical and dental exam will need to be done also but these need to be done within 6 months of starting school (so, no earlier than March before the child enters kindergarten).
Birthdates between 9/2/12 and 12/2/12 are transitional kindergarten.
Between 9/2/11 and 9/1/12 would be our kindergarten students.
For kindergarten and TK: You must enroll at your school of residence first. If you would like a transfer to another school in MDUSD, the transfer needs to be completed and given to Student Services between February 7th & March 1st (after you have completed your kindergarten registration at your home school).
February 14th is quickly approaching. To help celebrate Valentine’s Day, the 4th grade class will be selling “Smell-O-Grams” to raise money for 5th grade Outdoor Education.
Each “Smell-O-Gram” will include a special Valentine’s Smencil, bubbles and will be delivered to their class on Valentine’s Day. They will be selling for $2.00 a piece or 3 for $5.00. Look for the 4th grade class selling their “Smell-O-Grams” after school starting January 30. We will be sending a sheet home in the Friday folders so keep an eye out for those too. Thanks so much for helping our 4th graders get to camp next year.
The next Dining for Dollars fundraiser will be at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, located in the Willows Shopping Center. The date of the fundraiser is Wednesday, January 25. Please look for the flier posted next week and to be passed out on campus the day of the event. Questions? Email Kayo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Keep sending in those Box Tops. January 27th will be the last Box Tops collection before the grade level winners (the class in each grade level that brings in the most Box Tops) will be determined for the first half. Those grade level winners will earn an extra recess.
Also you can now download the new Box Tops Bonus App to discover brands and retailers offering bonus Box Tops. It’s simple, just download the app from your app store, login with your Box Tops login and password (or sign up if you don’t have one, make sure you choose Hidden Valley Elementary as your school to send the Bonus Box Tops to). The offers will be listed, select the offer and then scan your receipt. Your receipt will be processed and your Bonus Box Tops will be added to our earnings! Questions? Email Kayo at email@example.com.
To say that parking is tight at Hidden Valley is an understatement. The two parking lots in front of the school have 60 spaces. Hidden Valley has a total of just under 100 staff members. The shortage of parking is great enough that staff members regularly comment that they have difficulty finding a place to park. This causes them stress, and creates a safety issues when staff members are arriving to supervise students.
For this reason, we ask that all parents/guardians (except those with disabled placards or parking permits) use parking that is available near the school, and not the two lots designated for staff parking. Parents/guardians may park on Glacier Drive, Center Avenue, or at the park behind the school.
We all appreciate your willingness to keep parking spaces available for our hardworking staff who are here to serve children, and keep them safe.
