APEX FUN RUN – EXTRA TIME TO COLLECT SPONSORS!

APEX FUN RUN – NEW DATE!

Dear Parents,

We are so excited to announce that our school will be participating in the Apex Fun Run this year as our major fall fundraiser!  The Apex program will be with our students from September 19 to September 30, teaching leadership and fitness as we raise pledges to help our school.  The students will run their laps on Friday, September 30. Please look in your child’s folder and e-mails that will be sent to you as the fun run gets nearer.

Please feel free to visit www.apexfunrun.com to learn about this interactive program that helps schools all over the country raise money, while promoting leadership and fitness.  This year’s character theme is Apex Legends, where students will follow Tikes, Seeds, Specs, Jazz, and Wheels through the pages of their legendary adventure to discover JJ Cortez’s hidden treasure. Along the way these five friends discover what it truly means to be a Legendary leader:

  • Learn
  • Engage
  • Give
  • Empower
  • Never Quit
  • Do

During the Apex Fun Run, students are challenged to get pledges for the laps they will run on September 30 to help our school.  Students will run for 30 minutes and will run an average 26-36 laps, with the maximum amount of laps being 36 (each lap is 1/16th of a mile).  Sponsors can pledge $1/lap, $2/lap, $5/lap, or any other amount for students.  All participants will receive an access code that allows you to enter pledges online.  All students will receive Apex bands, race-day lap counters, and team awards.  We will need your help in the following four ways:

  • Help connect your child to potential sponsors and help them acquire pledges from family, friends and contacts.
  • Ask your child about the “Apex Legend” character lessons, and download the “Apex Fun Run” App!
  • Come to the Apex Fun Run and don’t forget to invite others to attend our fun-filled community event.
  • Help volunteer for the race!  We need a few parents to help cheer on students and mark laps.  If you would like to volunteer for your student’s race, please contact Nicole Peters at (925) 348-0477 or celebratedmomentstoremember@yahoo.com .

*Remember, All funds raised by 5th grade goes directly to their 5th grade camp!*

Thank you again for continued support of Hidden Valley Elementary School and we are excited to begin this journey with you!

Sincerely,

Your PFC

PICTURE DAY – THURSDAY, SEPT. 15

Next Thursday is picture day at Hidden Valley for all grades. Children will be taken to the multi-use room by class at varying times during the day. Usually, the younger children are walked in earlier in the day. Teachers sent a photo order form home from Lifetouch photo studios, which allow a choice of poses and backgrounds. There will also be a re-take photo day scheduled at a later date.

The office is still seeking parent volunteers to walk classes back and forth, and get students ready to be photographed.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Call for 2016-2017 HVE PFC Volunteers!
We are updating the database of HVE Volunteers for the 2016-2017 school year.
If you’re willing to be a volunteer this year – please send a quick email to hvpfcvolunteers@gmail.com and we will add you to the master email distribution list. Please also indicate your youngest child’s grade level – so we can roll over emails to the next year, when applicable.
Note – by being on this list, it doesn’t mean you’re signing up for anything more than to be on the email distribution list. You’ll see all of the emails for our school needs and can sign up on an event-by-event basis. Additionally, most positions don’t require district fingerprinting, and grandparents/ neighbors and friends are all welcome to volunteer.
