Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6 . The Hidden Valley PFC has been planning several events for teachers and school staff to show appreciation for the hard work they do.
Each class has a Room Parent who plans a week of things such as giving handwritten cards, bouquets of flowers, and sometimes a class gift. Look in your child’s backpack to see if he or she sent a flyer home asking for contributions from parents. Any amount is always greatly appreciated. The Room Parents volunteer their time to help improve communication between parents and the teachers.

We still need volunteers to fill a few Board positions and Chair a few committees on the PFC for the 2016/17 school year. We are collecting nominations now because voting occurs in May at open house, so please let Angie Vickroy know as soon as possible if you are interested in hearing more about any of the remaining open positions. (email@example.com
2nd Vice President: Coordinate the Jog-A-Thon, that usually occurs in the fall. 5th graders keep their raised funds to go towards camp. (Board position)
Secretary: Attend the monthly meetings to take notes, and write up the minutes (Board position)
Social Events Coordinator: Help coordinate Teacher Luncheon, Back to School BBQ, and Teacher appreciation week. (Two people have signed up to be major helpers. We just need a go-to-person) (Board position)
See’s Candy: This fundraiser is in November.
Campus Beautification: Work with Principal Gorton’s Beautification Committee. Schedule/coordinate 2 HVE clean up days.
Red Ribbon Week: We have one volunteer who wishes to have a co-Chair. Coordinate with the Principal for decorating and celebrating Red Ribbon Week
The Jog-A-Thon and See’s Candy are both significant source of funds for the PFC. If we don’t get a Chairperson for these, we will likely need to cut special activities such as Missoula Children’s Theater, and funds for teacher supplies, campus beautification and technology items. Please consider joining other parents in the PFC and make a difference in your student’s educational experience. It’s worth it and it’s fun too!
We have openings for noon supervisor substitute positions. This is a paid district position to supervise students either before, during, and/or after school. Most of the substitute shifts would be during lunch time, which is from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. If you are interested in applying, please pick up an application form in the office. If you would like more information please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Making Friends the Hidden Valley Way
Please join us Monday, April 11, at 8:09 am, on the upper grade playground for a special presentation by Hidden Valley Girl Scout Troop 32132. They will lead us in the flag ceremony and then dedicate their Bronze Award project to our school community.
This is Troop 32132’s last year at Hidden Valley and they decided for their project to install a Buddy Bench on the tiled patio next to Ms. Merletti’s class.
A Buddy Bench is a beautifully decorated bench for children to sit at if they are feeling lonely or need a friend to play with. The idea behind the Buddy Bench is to encourage friendship and social interaction.
Hope to see you there.
This month is Autism Awareness at Hidden Valley, and every Wednesday, students are encouraged to “Light it up Blue” by wearing blue to school.
